Children’s Books
Memories of Children’s Books
As a child, I remember certain children’s book quite vividly. They stoked my imagination and I still love reading them to this day. Two books I specifically remember are Dorie and the Witchdoctor and The Country Bunny and the Little Golden Shoes. I always wished I had shoes that could make me span the world as quickly as her, and when I read that one as an adult, I wonder at her skill of organization and care of her children. Remembering the stories I have read or have been read to as a child are warm memories.
There are some children’s books that seem to be classics. For example, Dr. Seuss books, The Little Engine that Could, and Where the Wild Things Are. They never go out of style, tell a moral, and sets your imagination on fire.
Newly Written Book
Recently, one of my daughters gave me a children’s book she wrote. It is charming. Perhaps it is even more appealing to me since I have people in my life that can relate to its story. It is a short sweet, story that has adorable illustrations. It’s called The Hair Eating Monster. A small hairy monster that lives under ball caps. A little monster that eats hair resulting in baldness. I hope she continues to write. Writing can be therapeutic and enjoyable.
What are Your Favorite Books?
Even if you’re not a reader, I am guessing there are favorite books that still stick in your mind. The absorbency of a child’s mind! Oh, how I wish I had the retention and memory I had when I was younger. The ability to take everything in. Perhaps tonight I will pick up a children’s book and not only read the content, but also the memories that come with it. If you are near your grandchildren, wouldn’t it be fun to read them your favorite books you had as a child? What are your favorite children’s books?
Happy Reading!
