Golf Anyone?

How Golfing Started Here

Recently my two youngest boys were invited to play golf with their cousins. We have never played golf in our household but decided to try since there is a program that allows kids to play without the heavy money burden.

Youth on Course

There is a program called Youth on Course. It is a junior access program which allows youth 18 and under have the opportunity to golf at minimal cost. There is a yearly fee of $30 which allows youth to golf for $5 or under depending on how many holes they play. It has other perks such as membership with the MBA and a handicap through GHIN. However, not all golf clubs participate in this program. Luckily, we have a golf club nearby which offers Youth on Course.

Golfing is Addicting

To my surprise, they come home excited about golf. So far, my youngest boys have wrestled and played football for sports. I didn’t know what to expect with golf. Honestly, I thought they would come home and tell me it was boring. Wrong! They loved it. They were hooked.

Where we Purchased Golf Clubs

Instantly they looked for used golf clubs on Facebook Marketplace. They kept insisting we should get some clubs and we finally found some for $35. We couldn’t go wrong with that price. After the clubs were picked up, the boys practice with their clubs whenever they have a chance.

Instills Self-Motivation

The following day I heard the lawn mower and I thought, “Wow, someone took the initiative and started mowing the lawn!” The initiative was to make a backyard two-holed golf course. One hole on one end and the other on the opposite end. It works! Trying out the course and now understand the joy of golf.

Conclusion

If your children have an interest in golf, check out Youth on Course. The cost is minimal. If you are unsure and do not want to spend a lot on golf clubs, they can be found on Facebook Marketplace, garage sales, and possibly thrift stores. Golf Clubs may have options for your golfing needs. Golfing has been a positive activity for my boys, and I wish that for your family also. Happy golfing!
