Rosary Making

As a teenager, my mom bought kits where one would make corded and metal-linked rosaries. I used to make quite a few. I could relax and make them while watching TV or have quiet time while assembling the rosaries. I had forgotten how I used to make them until I had several rosaries that were either missing pieces, pieced together randomly, or broken and unable to be repaired. After reading how powerful the rosary is and the importance the Blessed Virgin stressed this devotion, I decided to make my rosaries again.

Several companies make heavier, more sturdy rosaries. I wanted to do that. I ordered most of my supplies off Etsy sites where I found quality materials. I didn’t want a rosary that was just durable. I also wanted them to be pleasing to the eye; beautiful just like the prayers said on each bead.

What materials do I use? I use paracord, metal beads, some glass beads, plastic beads (but not many of these), and metal crucifixes and centerpieces. As mentioned, I do have some plastic beads, but they aren’t my first choice. The plastic beads are much less expensive, but often times if one buys colored beads, they either look cheap or the color flakes off. The metal beads have a nice feel to them and look beautiful.

I usually make rosaries as gifts but have also given many away. Many gifted rosaries are customized. Whomever wants one, I show them my beads and crucifixes that I have in inventory. No matter what is chosen, they always turn out beautiful.
